About Us

Gethsemane Church of Christ is an independent Christian church.  Founded in 1867, our desire is first to please our wonderful God and seek to further His Kingdom on the earth.  We believe that Jesus Christ is the only Savior for lost people.  He died for our sins and arose from the grave on the third day.  Jesus promised His Holy Spirit to all who believe and obey Him.

Concerning salvation, we hold to the same gospel message that the apostles proclaimed beginning on the day of Pentecost.  We believe that the scriptures are infallible and that they are the only source of authority for God’s church.

When a person believes the message about Jesus, repents of his/her sins and is baptized into Jesus, they are forgiven and they receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Our Mission

Sharing God’s Love by . . .

Loving God . . . Loving Others . . . Serving in Love

Our Vision

A community…

…of compassion for the lost, the broken and the hopeless.

…where everyone experiences the transforming love of God.

…where everyone is discovering their God-given abilities and gifts.

…where everyone is being equipped for significant ministry opportunities.

…of missionaries who are taking the transforming love of God to Mechanicsville, surrounding areas and the world through service and personal relationships.

…of individuals and families who are nourished through prayer, empowered by the Spirit and directed by the Word of God.

…where everyone is anticipating and preparing for the appearing of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
